You should believe in magic

No, I’m not talking about the hocus pocus kind, although that stuff is pretty darn cool.

I don’t mean the showy kind, either.

I’m talking about the magic of something, a synergistic moment or movement that makes me BELIEVE. We all used to do it. Every time we played with our toys, creating grand universes in our heads, we believed all these things were greater than the sum of the parts. Sure, anyone could buy G.I. Joe guys, but not every kid had epic, weekend-long, scripted battles with tangent plots and satisfying endings. Well, I did, did you?

There has never been a better time to dare to be great. What the hell more have we to lose? The economy is terrible, business as we know it is falling apart and now our own state of AZ has cut the hope for a better tomorrow from under us by slashing education funding.

Pick something. Pick something you’re good at, pick something that makes you feel good, pick something you WANT to be good at and DO it.

For me, I’m going to develop a system for measuring digital communication ROI (yes, that means social media in part, but encompasses a broad range of similar mediums). The traditional model won’t work here, however. Taking time spent, multiply by dollars/customers gained is not going to fully explain the power that we now possess. We have no hard costs for exchanging information to as many people as possible on a transaction by transaction basis. We’re not limited by distance or technology.

We are limited only by our imaginations. Let’s make magic.

What do you want to do with it?

Yes, but mine were with Barbies, does that count?

I just came across your blog on 20somethings… I’m intrigued!

I believe in magic! I believe in the power of imagination too!

The magic I’m creating, is world famous pinhole photographer. Each day I visualize getting hired to do pinhole portraits and weddings around the world. I do at least one thing a day to get me closer to my dreams. I know it’s working too.

Good luck! I look forward to reading about your progress.

I couldn’t agree with you more! As a recent graduate, this is probably the worst time for us to even attempt the job hunt. I know quite a few people who have been sitting around for months now without work – what better time to give their entrepreneurial skills a try? I’m still trying to figure out what I’m good at, but I’m hoping to figure out by taking on projects. I’m running a business and attempting to put together a charity’s internet strategy at the time being… I hope it helps bring out my forte! Whatever that is..

Great site by the way! I love the clean layout.
