Why bras are more trustworthy than most people

by tdhurst · View Comments

When ladies buy a bra, they almost always know what they’re getting. Underwire gives support, push-ups give you cleavage, sports bra minimize the bouncing during athletics. There’s no mystery to it.

People aren’t like that.

We pledge our support all the time. We label ourselves as helpers or givers, but don’t actually DO anything.

And most of the time it’s wasted and selfish.

Sure, we all support local business, but how often do we shop there? When it’s convenient?

We say we support our friends, but when’s the last time you went out of the way to help one? Ever stick YOUR neck out?

We say we support community, but how often do people give without expecting back? Or do you just talk it up?

Pledging support and then doing nothing is selfish. It’s an easy, self-serving attempt to make people think they are a part of something they’re not.

For those who do practice what they preach, you should be commended. Thank you for being different.

For the rest of you, shut up. The more you promise and the less you deliver, the more your friends, local businesses, communities and everything else you’re connected to suffers.

Don’t be surprised when they go away. You didn’t deserve them.

Oh the fun that Canberra had with this metaphor. I can see why you wrote this, it’s been a rough couple weeks. I think you could extend the metaphor a bit: sometimes your actions can lead to people reachig behind you to unclasp the bra and let those things fend for themselves. I think you still have enough youth to stay up, but maybe your starting to sag under all thr stress.

Anyway…my point is: I’ll cup you as long as you need me to buddy.

Hey, even the best bras fall prey to the occasional ‘nip slip’ =-O
