In our quest to be original, it’s important to realize that no one is ever original. Ideas don’t come from a void (unless it’s a flux capacitor), they come from experience, from interactions and from other people.
Originality just means solving a problem we weren’t sure we had yet. So, to be original, it’s more important to find a problem to solve that it is to conceive a solution.
This can’t be done in a vacuum, so look around. Ask people. Ask @conrey what he thinks about sales, ask @evo_terra what he thinks about podcasting, ask @markdudlik about design. Ask @dpatricklewis about real estate transactions. Interact. Probe. Critique. Learn. Find a problem and solve it. Stop thinking of the solution.
Nothing happens on its own. Get out there.
