The Little Things

It’s always the little things. Small tasks left undone, chinks in our armor or additives we in what we eat.

They add up.

Looked at a food label lately? The prevalence of high-fructose corn syrup and its derivatives slowly add up. There’s nothing nutritional about it, but it makes processed food taste better and last longer. They weigh you down.

We eat this stuff every day. But we do this with other things, too.

We put up with people who don’t deserve it. We do tasks out of guilt, rather than gain. We’re nice for the sake of being nice.

We ignore the positive part. The simple act of saying thank you, the closeness a handshake provides and the rush we get when we help someone for no other reason than generosity.

We never once consider the long-term effects of our short-term actions. We treat the little things like we treat our gums, but there is no dentist here to help out.

It has to stop. We’re a society of unhealthy, overweight, overstressed and overworked people that are constantly unhappy. We bitch about the country‘s direction and then do nothing to change it.

We want to be successful. We want to be great.

Embrace the good. Get rid of the bad. Pay attention to the little things.
