Shared Experiences versus Sharing Experiences

Great storytellers like have always been popular. Thinks Shakespeare. Cronkite. Hanks. As listeners, want to immerse themselves in their world and live through them. It requires trust, it requires imagination and it requires a suspension of disbelief.

But it’s not real. There’s no interaction. We’re being talked at, not with. In the one to many broadcast style of old media, this is what we’ve come to expect. It’s why TV is so ridiculously popular.

It’s easy to be told what to think. But it’s a waste of our time.

We can have shared experiences now. We are no longer limited by geography, access or prestige. The walls are down and the storytellers that only broadcast aren’t as important anymore.

Take note, #140conf, you are sharing experiences. #140tc had shared experiences.

One is forced, one is open. One is scripted, the other just flows.

Stop wasting your time listening to others’ stories and start creating your own.
