Past, present and future of journalism

Name one industry that lasted for 350 years.

Nothing?

Newspapers.

And now they’re dying and we’re supposed to care that they didn’t change with the time. We’re supposed to treat the lack of a printed paper as a bad thing, rather than an opportunity to reinvent the way people get their news.

Bill Simmons does an excellent job in his latest podcast, which features an interview with one of his bosses. Simmons was successful because he understood what the internet could be and knew not to treat it just like a newspaper.

It’s the 3/27 podcast. Must listen for anyone interested in the future of media.

I say good riddance! They deserve to die……or maybe we should rally for a government handout for newspapers?

No, journalism can exist without a printed medium. These dipshits should have taken the internet more seriously.
