Mistake of attention

Celebrity deaths make the news. Celebrity affairs dominate the front page. Terrorist attacks are discussed for days, weeks, months and far too often, years.

But why?

Why are we so focused on the what goes wrong? Seldom do huge successes make the news. Avatar is making the news because we’re SURPRISED that it doesn’t suck.

Negative energy is helpful ONLY if it prompts us to do something better. ONLY if it prompts us to create more. ONLY if it inspires us to improve our lives.

Next time negative news comes your way, ignore it. Don’t stick your head in the sand about the message, just disregard the inevitable aftermath.

It’s time we focus on what we’re doing right, not what’s wrong.

It’s far to easy to point out what’s not going right and the rewards are far less.

Let’s celebrate what we’re doing well and build on it.

Sounds an awful lot like cheerleading to me. I believe you need to be aware of the negative to improve, but it’s important to celebrate the success as well. Failing to do either puts you in the land of mediocrity.

Nope. “Dont stick your head in the sand about the message, just disregard the inevitable aftermath.”
Be aware of what went wrong, but don’t waste time on blame or insignificant details.

Learn from it and move on.
