There’s a lot to be said about Apple’s new FaceTime commercial. It evokes emotion, pulls at heartstrings and shows beyond a doubt that simple video chat is more than a gimmick. Ads like this can and should be looked upon as standards for all advertising campaigns. It is what we should expect big media to give us.
But once we start attributing great work like this to idealized characters from TV shows, we’ve lost the magic. Have we regressed so much as a society that we compare the creators of great work to others of great work? What happened to celebrating the real artists?
Get off your fucking couch. Create your own media. Stop looking up to people who don’t even exist.
