Internet fame doesn’t mean a damn thing

Whiner. Show off. No shit.

Really? Do you really think followers matter? Now that we have Ashton versus CNN, too many newbies to social media and Twitter thinks followers are the most important thing they can get.

Shut up. Stop telling me about your followers. Big media, stop telling me how popular Twitter is. We don’t need every grandma in the world to join. This doesn’t need to be mainstream.

Have real conversations. Say what’s on your mind. Stop checking your follower account. For the love of god, stop telling me what you think of @aplusk. Log off and watch your reality TV shows instead.

Here, here!

The quest for followers by folks seems like a holdover from MySpace & Facebook. I think it’d be interesting if Twitter made people’s number of followers private.

Bottom line, follow whoever you think is interesting and don’t be too concerned with who or who isn’t following you. I think it makes the whole experience more organic and enjoyable.

THANK you. Please forgive me if I kiss you square on the mouth next time I see you.

Although, I’m cool with Twitter being mainstream. In a way, it shows it’s proven its usefulness. I wish podcasting would become this mainstream.

At any rate, regardless of the stupid Ashton and Oprah fodder, we still have the power to control who WE choose to follow. ;-)
