Follow your own rules

by tdhurst · 4 comments

We spend our days trying to be liked, hoping to be accepted and striving to be respected.

Stop living by other people’s rules, if only for a little while. You’re wasting your time and theirs by being something that you’re not.

It’s going to be frustrating, it’s probably going to hurt and it’s going to be humbling.

People will unfollow you, unfriend you and complain about you. Let them.

Live by your own rules for a while, then see who’s left.

Those are your friends. Those are the people you should listen to.

Good luck.

it seems getting away and taking a glance from the outside may be doing you some good. I have heard you more often than not say “don’t take it so personal” or ” have thicker skin”… So following your owns rules is totally relevant here, now, aside from not taking it personal, we need to learn not to “make” it personal.

Yes. No one is an island, no matter how much we’d like to be. I saw
what I was and did NOT like it. Very valuable lesson.
