Creativity will save the world

Creativity will save the world. It already has, once. When times are tight, only creative thinking can help prosper.

Times are tight again. The same old thinking isn’t going to work for us. And everyone has been broken a bit. So you have to do things differently in order to survive.

Michael Bungay Stanier does this well. As a customer of his first book, he emailed me and offered me a chance to win the newest edition of Do More Great Work in exchange for a review on Amazon. I ended up being a winner and just received a copy of his new book.

But that’s when he took ONE step further. Someone, most likely not him but that makes no difference, inserted a folded note reading: “With compliments from Michael and Workman Publishing.” It likely came straight from someone’s desk, but it caught my eye.

Bode Miller failed spectacularly four years ago. He came through this time, but it’s not his medals that impress, it’s his attitude. He’s candid, he takes risks and he’s damn honest about everything he does. You know EXACTLY what you’re getting when you work with him. Think he’s a better draw than Tiger Woods? I do.

Creativity saved our country once. It was called the New Deal. Government spending encouraged small businesses to take risks. It prompted action. It promoted confidence.

We have that type of help here. We have those type of people here.

What’s stopping you? How much worse does it have to get?
