Clear your mind and the rest will follow
I also wanted to access my notes on both my Macbook and iPhone. Sure, it SOUNDS simple, but it’s not. It’s damn near impossible to create a seamless workflow from your computer to your mobile device without a hassle.
Evernote works okay. Notes for Mac does all right. But SimpleNoteApp and Notational Velocity are much better for unstructured, stream of consciousness writing that does NOT require much manipulation to work. In fact, it’s designed to be run entirely by keystroke commands.
Sound tough? Well, if you’re using a computer more than a few minutes a day and you’re still using your mouse to navigate 90% of the time, you are seriously missing out. Sure, it only takes a few seconds to move your hand from keyboard to mouse/trackpad, but for many people, that’s enough to break their concentration.
Notational Velocity and SimpleNoteApp work for well together it’s scary. They sync fast. They sync automatically. They AUTOSAVE.
if you’re a writer of any sort, I urge you to try it. At the very least you’ll be able to bang out blog posts from spontaneous thoughts much, much quicker.

(Disclosure: no, there isn’t a Windows or a non-iPhone app available, but it is web-based, so I’m sure you smarty Android people can figure it out. Linux and Palm Pre owners, you’re on your own (ha! we know you’re used to that.)
