Body Composition Challenge with Vin Vallejo of Pro Fitness AZ, Week 3

Success. Well, at least a step in the right direction.

After three weeks of continuous, actual effort made toward monitoring and keeping my caloric intake at a level suggested so I’d lose two pounds a week, it worked. No, seriously.

I spent the better part of three weeks sitting on my ass, hoping my big toes would stop hurting. I skipped my first three tennis games with my Thursday-Friday opponent Matthew, dropped out of my weekly tennis league, and wore nothing other than Luna sandals and huaraches for most of that time. What I’m saying is that I wasn’t physically active.

And none of that mattered. After reading Chubster and firing up LoseIt, I kept track of everything that I ate. I scanned the barcodes of some stuff, but most of what I ate was stuff I cooked, because it was easier for me to keep track of what exactly was in meals. My recommended daily intake was 1852 calories per day, and most days I came in a bit under.

I’m down ten pounds, 3/4 inch off my gut, and less 1.6% body fat percentage. Pretty awesome, yeah? Well yeah, but my goal is a bit loftier than not having a belly anymore. I want to be physically fit. No longer will belt buckles press into my belly when I sit down, no more rolls when I tuck in a shirt and no saggy pecs.

Here’s what I’m working with right now.

Wish I knew how to use Photoshop.

See? There’s some definition in there. I’m not an amorphous blob, but I do have a lot of extra me hanging forward.

From the side.

Not the greatest posture.

This shows the extra me fat stuff that looks like it’s melting. That crap needs to go.

Five weeks left in the Body Composition Challenge with Vin Vallejo of Pro Fitness AZ. Adding workouts this week…do I have a prayer to win the $3k?
