Being well known doesn’t mean much, except when it does

Farmville is ridiculous.

AT&T is bitching about the iPhone‘s massive success.

Hollywood is becoming stagnant, as many of what would have been great films are now great TV series. Compare the 90s to the 00s, you’ll see what I mean.

But all of them, even Hollywood, still makes money. Lots of money.

For years, we’ve all heard that it’s not important how many people know you, it’s who you know and who knows you. Want an easy tip on how to improve the chances of meeting the right people? Get known. Get people talking about you.

It doesn’t matter if they love you, hate you, worship you or want to burn you at the stake, as long as you are exactly who you say you are, people who love you will continue to and the people who hate you will likely be turned. But you’ll never lose your fans.

We bitch about Farmville and Mafia Wars, but those companies are raking in the dough from players. AT&T complains about how the iPhone is tearing apart their networks, but they are making record profits. We seem to bitch about the movie industry every year, but we’re still going to movies. How many people saw Twilight? Transformers 2?

Once you reach a certain level of popularity, you can do whatever you want.

Enough talk about how being known doesn’t mean much, because it does. Lots.
