Are you real?

Had a fantastic time today at #rebcphx. Good people, good conversations and much to be learned. Something stuck out.

In the last presentation, a round table with @dpatricklewis, @chrislee, @aussieheather, @raillife, @evo_terra and a bunch of other people very interested in social media and Twitter especially, I was treated to a very cool compliment. “Great breakout with @tdhurst. This guy is as real as it gets.

Fantastic thing to say. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

Why aren’t we all more real? Sure, I was spurred on by the synergy between the aforementioned friends and the interest of the people in the room, but why can’t we real all the time? Why don’t we all just be ourselves? Won’t we end up getting more from life?

Thanks Qui Sait. I suppose “fuck off” would have been better, but less appropriate.

I’m a big fan of Tyler’s & how real he keeps things. I, myself, am a pretty controlled person – definitely not completely unfiltered (on Twitter or anywhere). I don’t misrepresent my thoughts or feelings for benefit but I’m a bit afraid to just let loose. Hanging around with him & others definitely makes me wonder how things would go if I were a bit more freewheeling. I feel lucky to have his influence.

Dave, I read that Esquire article as well and found that very interesting. May go search out those books. Have you read them yourself?
